- Permitted meeting capture
- Draft summary and actions
- Owner checks commitments
- Approved CRM handoff
StackBrief workflow illustration. A suggested process, not a recorded product test.
The awkward part of a sales call often comes afterward. Your notes say “send details,” but nobody remembers which details, who promised them, or whether the buyer actually agreed to a deadline. An AI meeting assistant is useful only if it helps resolve that ambiguity.
Fireflies is worth evaluating when conversations regularly turn into follow-up work across several people. This review focuses on that handoff. We reviewed the vendor’s published offering; we have not measured its transcription accuracy or used it in a live customer meeting.
What Fireflies offers
Fireflies lists meeting transcription, summaries, search, and an assistant called AskFred. Its pricing page distinguishes storage, AI credits, downloads, integrations, and team features across plans. Pro includes downloads and action items; Business adds conversation intelligence and admin analytics. These are advertised capabilities, not independent performance findings. Where it could earn its place
Imagine a five-person sales team that hands new customers to an implementation specialist. The specialist needs the promised scope, unresolved technical questions, and the next meeting date. A readable summary is helpful, but a traceable summary is better: the important statements should be easy to check against the original conversation.
In this illustrative workflow, the account owner reviews the notes, corrects any speaker or date errors, and passes a short approved handoff into the CRM. The assistant supplies a draft record. The account owner remains responsible for what the customer was promised.
A meeting note is not a commitment
Test three distinctions carefully: a suggestion versus a decision, an aspiration versus a deadline, and a question versus a confirmed requirement. “Could we launch next month?” should not become “Launch date: next month.” A fluent summary can hide a meaningful change in certainty.
Make a small reference sheet from a meeting your team is permitted to use. List the decisions, open questions, owners, and dates by hand. Compare the generated notes to that sheet. Count important omissions separately from harmless wording differences; a missed dependency matters more than an imperfect sentence.
Which plan should you evaluate?
Start with the feature that blocks your process. If colleagues need downloadable records, check the export entitlement. If managers need team analytics, confirm the relevant plan and access settings. Do not buy a higher tier simply because it is labeled for businesses.
The vendor lists Pro at $10 and Business at $19 per seat per month when billed annually, as checked September 21, 2026. Those are annual-billing equivalents, not a promise of monthly cancellation at that rate. Confirm current checkout terms, seat rules, and extra AI consumption before purchasing. Verify current Fireflies plans.
Use a scorecard that reflects your calls
| Check | What a useful result looks like |
|---|---|
| Names and product terms | Correct enough that an uninvolved colleague can identify the topic |
| Action items | Owner and deadline reflect the actual conversation |
| Open questions | Unresolved issues remain visibly unresolved |
| Retrieval | A reviewer can find the supporting passage without replaying the entire call |
| Handoff | The next teammate receives the corrected record in the right place |
Include a call with interruptions and one with technical vocabulary. Perfect audio from a rehearsed demo tells you little about the conversations your team has every Tuesday. Record correction time as well as output quality.
Set sharing and retention before rollout
Decide which meetings may be captured, who can access the notes, and how long the team needs them. Have the appropriate owner confirm your organization’s recording and participant-notice requirements before customer use. Keep internal account strategy separate from material intended for the customer.
Also check what happens when an employee leaves. A valuable meeting archive should not depend on one person’s personal login or a forgotten shared link. Use approved examples while evaluating settings, and verify the actual controls available in your selected plan.
Our buying view
Fireflies deserves consideration if meeting follow-up is a recurring operational problem and someone will review the output. It is less compelling if your existing meeting software already produces notes that your team uses successfully, or if nobody will own the handoff.
